{No, proactivity is not actually a word, but oh well. It works for me.}
Yesterday, I had a pretty packed up day. I got to hang out with an old friend of mine and shoot the shit before I ran up to Maurice's to grab myself a pair of - gasp - boots! I've been wanting a pair for a while now, and I figured that'd be a good place to get them since they cater to bigger girls and well, I have big ol' calves. I got to get all pretty and dressed up for a night out on the town with some other moms (we ALL got babysitters to go off and have fun!)
We had reservations at a new restaurant downtown called The Fondue Factory, very similar to The Melting Pot (our closest is in Pittsburgh), and well... I guess it was alright, but they're new and they have a lot of kinks to work out. Like managing to keep from putting so much spice in one of their dishes that they fuck it all up. One of the mom groups got the southwest chipotle fondue, and it was NASTY, like licking the inside of a nutmeg container. Then our entrees - $27 a person!!!, wtf? - were not good at all, really. Bland. Oh, wait, that's because they forgot to give us our bread and dipping sauces! Pft. And they seriously over-peppered the broth to cook our stuff in, so that sucked, but the appetizer of spinach artichoke dip that I got with one of the moms was pretty awesome. The shit part was that we all went home hungry just about (and we were there for 3.5 hours just about WAITING for the food, so..), so we actually ate something small when we got home. Probably not a great idea since I fell right asleep afterward...
The plan had been to go out drinking and dancing for a bit afterward, but instead, Adam and I broke off and went home to chill in the quiet of the apartment before we had to go get the baby. It was... really nice, actually. Relaxing. Far more so than dancing probably would've been, despite being a great workout.
Friday, I didn't get to go meet Mitch the Magic Maker - the snow was pretty bad and I literally slid all the way down into our complex on the return trip home from grabbing some stuff, so I didn't think going back out was a wise choice. I'm hoping tomorrow or sometime soon this week, he can fit me in again. In any case, I'm going to the gym with Lilah's pediatrician tomorrow - I totally love that woman, she's awesome. Haha. It's not every day you can say you do that, right?
Today, I got to do what I've been wanting to do for a while now - I roped my most active friend into going out in the snow and doing a little trail hike. It was really invigorating, actually, getting all bundled up, popping Lilah in the Moby and getting out into the open doors for some sun and activity. I won't lie and say it was easy, because I'm way out of shape, but it was fun, and the company was great, even though my friend's little girl had a melt down. I want to make the Sunday hiking/walking/whatever-outdoors-thing a weekly thing since Adam is off that day and we're really trying to build an environment that's healthy and active for us both that we can do stuff together with.
Anyway. Today is weigh-in day. I think my eating so late last night, and my lack of eating a lot this past week, has made me hold on to more than I might've normally, especially since yesterday I actually weighed less. lol.
WEIGH-IN WEIGHT: 295.5 (-1.4lbs)
It's nothing stellar, but considering my eating habits over the past week, the stress I've been under and my one chance to go work out, I'll take it. =) Slow and steady, slow and steady.
I'll post pictures later. For now, I'm not feeling like being verbose, so... lata, y'all. Have a good evening.
